As a coach and coach supervisor, I’ve been asked many times: ‘where do I start with bringing more creative tools into my coaching?’ and that inspired me to put together a kit that would be a starting point and provide encouragement to have a go.
I’ve curated this set of simple creative tools for face to face sessions, to inspire and encourage coaches to begin to bring more creative devices into their coaching.

These are a few tools that provide a gentle introduction to using some physical elements in coaching, to add to the thinking and conversations.

The box includes a range of tools including for work around relational context, identity, letting things go and letting things thrive. There are some drawing and painting materials and different objects to use these with. I've sourced sustainable and natural resources where possible.

The toolbox comes with a list of activities for you to try out with each of the elements. These are ideas to get you started and build your confidence, and I actively encourage your own ideas and creativity – and utilising that of your clients.
Using tools like these is about freeing up people’s minds, tapping into other parts of the brain, moving beyond the spoken word. Some people will love some of the tools, some won’t. Find out about your client - what creativity is hidden within them? Experiment and see what happens. Don’t be afraid to try. I am continually amazed at what people come up with. I provide the tools and the structure; they make it their own.
When could you introduce these tools? Whenever it feels like they will support learning and development. Don’t be tempted to shoehorn them into a session but having them to hand means you can offer them when the moment calls for it. We can only offer a tool or technique, and it’s up to the client if they want to go with it or not.
I would suggest firstly getting familiar with the tools and trying them out yourself – how do they work for you? What felt good? Clunky? Choose a couple that you feel most comfortable with or feel most relevant to the work you do and offer them as an option. Hold on lightly – it might not be the right time and that’s okay – another time it will be. And a reminder to contract with your client about using creative tools in your sessions.
You can also book an online session with me to go through the tools and try them out, when you purchase the box or contact me afterwards if you would like to book one separately.
